On Friday, March 21 Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) took former Cross County Sheriff’s Deputy Dillon Kemp into custody. Kemp, 26, of Wynne, now faces serious accusations of sexual assault. The arrest followed an investigation initiated earlier in the week at the request of Cross County Sheriff David West.
The investigation began on Monday, March 17, after a tip was submitted to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. That tip eventually made its way to Sheriff West’s of_ce because Kemp was employed there. According to authorities, the inquiry uncovered evidence suggesting Kemp had sexually assaulted two juvenile females in prior years. State police, however, did not disclose the ages of the victims, referring to them only as “juveniles.”
Kemp was arrested without any reported issues at the Cross County Sheriff’s Of_ce. Following his arrest, he was charged with two felony counts of second-degree sexual assault. Sheriff West con_rmed that Kemp had been booked into the Cross County jail and that his employment with the sheriff’s of_ce had been terminated.
The case remains under investigation as legal proceedings are set to follow.
