LITTLE ROCK — The State of Arkansas today announced driver’s licenses and state IDs can now be downloaded on a mobile device as a digital license or ID. Arkansans can search and download the “Arkansas Mobile ID” app and enroll their digital license or ID. Search “AR Mobile ID” in the App Store or Google Play.

The Arkansas Mobile ID is a contactless, highly secure, state-approved credential that resides on a smartphone. It can be presented at participating businesses and venues as a valid form of ID. The State of Arkansas is currently working with TSA. Approval for the Arkansas Mobile ID to board a flight is anticipated for this summer.

The state anticipates the list of organizations and businesses that accept Mobile ID will increase over time. A free resource, the Mobile ID Verify app, is available to any business or law enforcement organization and can be used to confirm an individual with an Arkansas Mobile ID.

“My administration is working to make Arkansas government more efficient at every level,” said Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “The rollout of a secure mobile ID will help Arkansans access their documents when and where they need them and brings state government in line with 21st century technology.”

The Mobile ID puts users in control of what information they share. For example, when making an age-restricted purchase, users can prove their age without disclosing any unnecessary information, including an address.

“Arkansans will now have quick and easy access to their driver’s license or ID on their cell phone,” said Jim Hudson, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). “I encourage Arkansans to take advantage of this free resource as they can control who their information is shared with from the license or ID. dential is consistently accessible.”

Less than 15 states currently offer a digital driver’s license or ID. However, a number of states are working toward it.

In addition to Arkansas, southern states that offer a digital license or ID include Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia. The Arkansas Mobile ID launch is the result of the General Assembly’s Act 557 of 2017 and Act 261 of 2023. Act 557 provided the state with the authority to establish a digital license while Act 261 confirmed the timeline for its establishment.
