*** I thought it was illegal to set up a speed trap?!?
I keep hearing SHOP LOCAL but where are we supposed to shop local? I see a few chick stores but where are the retail stores? Where is the place that keeps me from having to drive to Southaven or Jonesboro (I am NOT shopping in Memphis). Do these companies (I’m looking at YOU Target, Kohl’s, JC Penny…) not want our money? Guess I can always shop online!!! [ Editor’s Note: I think you answered your question with your last little bit there. More and more, online shopping is the way people are going.
Large retailers are among the businesses struggling the most to keep the doors open. In addition to the internet offering better and more convenient options, the COVID- 19 pandemic pretty much sealed the deal on ending the dominance of the big chain retaile stores, so with few exceptions they have pretty much put a hard stop on the idea of expanding, and where they are opening new stores is where population growth is booming ( think Northwest Arkansas, not the Mississippi Delta), at least for the time being. Also, since you mentioned them, there are some pretty cool items at these “ chick stores” if you’re looking for something unique.
But to directly answer your question… No, it would appear these retailers do not want our money]
[ Editor’s Note: Well, technically no, it’s not. It is illegal for a city to acquire more than 30% of its revenue from traffic citations but the actual “ speed trap” concept in and of itself is perfectly legal in every state]
