Body found on I-40

State police investigating after human remains discovered Wednesday

Details are still scarce but Arkansas State Police investigators are at work on piecing together a disturbing discovery last week. Around 4:30 p.m., just as the daily rush hour was beginning between Memphis and West Memphis Wednesday afternoon, police were called to the scene near Mile Marker 280 along Interstate 40 in West Memphis.

Human remains were found at the scene, according to an Arkansas State Police release, but little else was revealed as the body (identity, age and gender unreleased or unknown) was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further examination.
