This past Saturday, the town of Earle came alive with the annual Taste of Earle event, an energetic showcase of food, entertainment, and local culture. Held at the Earle Town Square, the festival drew visitors from across the region to experience the best of what Earle has to offer, coinciding with the area’s Homecoming Weekend.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Taste of Earle featured everything from a competitive BBQ contest and Wassetti cook-off to live music and a car show. Vendors offered a mouthwatering assortment of global cuisine, but the standout of the day was Cater 2 You by Steph’s legendary stuffed turkey legs, served up smoked or baked with a choice of Cajun Alfredo Shrimp, avored rice, or old-school Wassetti – a dish as unique to Earle as the event itself.
“I’ve been to a lot of food festivals, but nothing beats the taste of home,” said one local attendee, Rebecca Turner. “The BBQ ribs were phenomenal, and I’ve never had anything like the Wassetti! You won’t _nd this anywhere else.”
Meanwhile, kids enjoyed the “Kids Corner” complete with bouncy houses, a game truck, and face painting, while adults marveled at the classic cars on display at the car show. Music _lled the square with performances by local talent, including gospel group Meant by God, rapper Righteous, and Lamar & The Get Up Band.
Just a short drive away, the town of Crawfordsville hosted its own Fall Festival, offering even more excitement for families looking to make the most of the autumn weekend.
“I took my kids to both events, and we had an absolute blast,” said one attendee, Aaron Simmons. “The Taste of Earle was great for food and music, and Crawfordsville’s Fall Festival was perfect for

getting into the fall spirit. I’m glad we didn’t have to choose between the two.”
With the weather cooperating and plenty of activities to keep visitors entertained, both Earle and Crawfordsville proved that small towns know how to throw big events. Many are already looking forward to next year, as both festivals continue to grow in popularity and importance to their respective communities.
There was something for everyone at the event.
