Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas announces next food distribution

Natalie Neal, USDA Coordinator for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas (nneal@foodbankofnea.org) has announced the date and time for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas’s next USDA Commodity Distribution in Crittenden County.
“The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas will host drive-thru commodity distribution in Crittenden County on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., until food runs out,” said Neal.
The Sept. 24 distribution event will take place at: VFW Post 5225 406 S. Avalon St.
West Memphis, AR Neal offered the following information regarding eligibility for the commodity distribution: “Persons receiving USDA foods must reside in Crittenden County. Recipients must also meet USDA income guidelines that have been set for The Emergency Food Assistance Program,” she said.
Recipients will need to provide the following information to determine program eligibility:
• name,
• address,
• family size
• combined monthly income of the household.
“ An appropriate form of identification such as a driver's license, social security card, or picture identification card must be shown,” Neal said. “Recipients will only be allowed to pick up USDA foods for themselves. To pick up food items for a shut-in, elderly person, or other qualified household, the person picking up the food must have signed authorization with the following information from the person they are picking up for: name, address, family size, and combined monthly income of the household receiving the food. Case workers picking up for large groups must make prior arrangements with the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.”
USDA foods are distributed on a first come, first served basis. The Food Bank of Northeast and the U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. Food Bank staff/volunteers will utilize a translation app to accommodate persons with limited English proficiency.
