West Memphis School District recognizes outstanding staff

The West Memphis School District honored its teachers and non-certified personnel last week in the annual end-of-the-year Awards Day ceremonies.

Individual Teachers of the Year (bottom photo) included Penny Dauksch at Bragg Elementary, Francine Arnold-Dancy at Faulk Elementary, Erin Williams at Jackson-Wonder Elementary, Priscilla Burnett-Hall at Maddux Elementary, Christi Boozer at Richland Elementary, Alicia Bray at Weaver Elementary, Marsha Jones at East Junior High, Annette Hearn at West Junior High, Kendall Naceanceno at Wonder Junior High and Cana Able at the Academies of West Memphis.

Richland teacher (top right) Blair Rogers was recognized once again for being the regional teacher of the year in Arkansas and a nominee for state teacher of the year.

Three West Memphis teachers were honored as DeltaARTS Imaginative Teachers of Year. They were (top left) Susan Cash, Gloria Richardson and Diane Woods.

Retiring teachers (middle left) included Darryle Long at West, Earnestine Saulsberry at Faulk, Dauksch at Bragg, Alice Hancock at Wonder Junior High, Anita Williams at Faulk, Dennis Peronia at West, K-6 math coordinator Janet Gately, Brenda Branch at AWM and Richland principal Gwen Looney.

Also, the district recognized four non-certified retiring staff members, including (middle right) Thelma Riley, Mattie Hill, Anita Dunigan and Edna Perry.
