Within 3 months time, lung function improves by 30 percent for smokers who kick the habit.
Arkansas offers a variety of services to help you quit.
One of the most important calls a tobacco user can make is to the Arkansas Tobacco Quitline at 1-800QUIT-NOW. (1-800-784-8669).
The confidential helpline offers a personal counselor who’ll help you prepare to quit, choose a quit day, change your routines, cope with withdrawal, and fight slips and relapses. Program participants receive five supportive calls, and Quit Counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Your counselor can provide nicotine replacement therapy medications for free while supplies last. Your Quit Counselor will work with you to identify the best medication for you, and will help you understand how much to take for how long.
The Quitline also offers services specifically designed for teenage smokers. The Youth Support Program was created for people 13 to 17 years old – support that understands the particular challenges younger tobacco users face. Callers can take advantage of the five-call program and can also receive materials and referrals to local programs.
And who couldn’t use a few encouraging texts and emails? The continuing guidance provides 24/7encouragement, advice and tips to help you quit for good.
And the best part about all of this support is it is absolutely free.
Whether you are trying to quit or working to help somebody else success, you are twice as strong as you were with help.
The Arkansas Tobacco Quitline is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
