CCSD internal investigation results in arrests
ralphhardin@gmail.com The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department has arrested three Detention Center Employees following an Internal Affairs Investigation into allegations that they battered two inmates at the Crittenden County Detention Center. Terry Butler, 26, of Marion; Trevor Jones, 18, of West Memphis; and Michael Williams, 37, of Marion, were each charged with Battery in the Third Degree/Purpose of Causing Injury, Causes Injury.
The jailers were arrested after Sheriff’s Department investigators uncovered evidence of the crime.
“It's a sad day, but I am proud that we have a system in place to investigate any allegation of abuse,” said Sheriff Mike Allen. “No one is above the law and I am proud of the Internal Affairs investigators’ quick actions to bring charges forward.”
Allen said the Incident is said to have occurred over the weekend and Internal Affairs investigators were busy over the past several days interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence. All three are set to appear in West Memphis District Court on Friday to face the charges. They have been suspended pending a hearing.
“I'm proud of the reputation of this department,” said Allen, “and its ability to investigate complaints.”
