34th annual Twenty Pearls Scholarship Pageant this weekend
AKA will be ‘Exemplifying Excellence’ at special gathering

Those with refined tastes will want to check out an elegant evening this weekend.
The 34th annual Twenty Pearls Scholarship Pageant will be this Sunday, April 6, beginning at 3 p.m. The pageant is sponsored, as always, by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Pi Chi Omega Chapter The pageant will be held at the Academies of West Memphis High School, 501 W. Broadway Ave.
“This year’s Theme is ‘Exemplifying Pearls of Excellence,’” said Patricia Turner, chapter Ivy Leaf Reporter. “The Mistress of Ceremonies for the program is the awesome Stormy Taylor, a top-rated on-air talent at iHeart Radio Memphis, broadcasting on KJMS and the first black-programmed radio station in America, the Legendary WDIA.”
Taylor is also the host of weekly talk show on Memphis’ top-rated stations, V101, K97, WDIA and Hallelujah FM.
The event is open to the public and the community is invited. The chairperson for this event is Carolyn Anthony. Sharonda Robinson is the president of the chapter. The AKA Twenty Pearls Scholarship Pageant features a panel of young up-and-coming local ladies vying for scholarship money. This year’s pageant is taking place this Sunday afternoon.
