Shooting at Marion Zaxby’s leaves one dead
Incident leaves community with unanswered questions

An altercation at the Zaxby’s restaurant in Marion this past Saturday night ended with gun_re, leaving one person dead and another involved in the incident injured and in the hospital.
Maj. Dustin Burnett with the Marion Police Department provided an account of the incident.
“On March 21, at approximately 5:40 p.m., of_cers responded to 306 Bancario Rd., the Zaxby’s restaurant, in reference to shots _red. Upon arrival, Patrol Units with the Marion Police Department located two individuals who sustained injuries. One sustained a gunshot wound, the other sustained blunt force injuries. EMS transported both individuals to Regional One Hospital. The gunshot victim succumbed to injuries and was pronounced at the hospital.”
The other individual is still listed in critical condition. Names of the individuals involved in this violent incident have not been released.
“Detectives with the Marion Police Department responded and began collecting evidence and processing,” said Burnett. “This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Further details may be released at a later time.”
One of the individuals involved in the altercation is a Zaxby’s employee. Zaxby’s management declined to comment on the incident.
