Blue Devil track stars shine

Congratulations are in order to several West Memphis Blue Devil track and field standouts following the 5A State Indoor Track Championships.

Lalia Taylor was crowned 5A State Champion in two different events: the High Jump and Triple Jump. In her efforts, Taylor broke the school record in both events. Taylor also qualified for New Balance, Nike and Adidas Nationals later this spring.

Congratulations are also in order for Antwan Dawson for becoming 5A State Champion in the Triple Jump and State Runner-up in the High Jump. Dawson set an indoor school record. Dawson also qualified for New Balance, Nike, and Adidas National Meet.

Other notable Blue Devil performances:

■ ■ Kevin Horns took second in the 800. Horns qualified for the Adidas Nationals.

■ ■ Julian McBride took second in 60 meter hurdles.

Lalia Taylor was crowned Girls 5A State Champion in the High Jump and Triple Jump.
