Police are still putting the pieces in a tragic robberygone- wrong break-in that left one West Memphis teenager dead and his suspected killers — an 11-year-old boy and 16year-old juvenile — in custody. The two youths, whose names have not been released due to their ages, have been charged with murder after allegedly taking part in the attempted burglary that took a violent turn last week.
While detals are limited, West Memphis police said a 14year-old boy was killed and the 16-year-old suspect was wounded when the older teen and the 11-year old attempted to break into a home Sunday night, Jan. 26, located in the 1900 block of Scottwood Street.
Investigators said the homeowner fired shots at the teens after they broke into the house through a rear window. Police said an 11-year-old boy was also outside the residence acting as a lookout. West Memphis police said after the 16-year-old and 11-year-old showed up at the hospital, they discovered the 14-yearold in the backyard of the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The 16-year-old is facing a charge of capital murder, and is being charged as an adult.
The 11-year-old was charged with first-degree murder as a juvenile.
