WYNNE — One of the suspects in a mass shooting in Wynne last year that killed one person and injured at least nine others has been sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison.

Tommie Frost, 19, of Marion, pleaded guilty in Cross County Circuit Court Monday to second-degree murder and to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to online court records.

He was originally charged with first-degree murder and nine counts of first-degree battery.

The incident, which occurred on April 13, resulted in the death of Varian Campbell, 27, and injured at least nine others. Two other people were run over by vehicles as they ran from the scene in an attempt to escape the flying bullets, said Special Agent Kris McCrea of the Arkansas State Police, who investigated the incident.

The shooting took place near the corner of Williams Avenue and Martin Luther King Street around 10 p.m. The victims ranged in age from 24 to 49.

Frost and three other suspects were arrested on April 16.

The three remaining suspects, Quaverius Milon, 24, of Wynne; Carl Lee Washington III, 22, of Parkin; and Cameron Crawford, 22, of Wynne, are awaiting trial dates, which are set for later this spring.
