One of the more popular modern vido game franchises is GTA, a game in which the player pulls off a series of crimes while trying to evade capture by the police.
A little ironic then is that the three men who attempted a little pre-Christmas heist that might have been inspired by the game did not fare too well in their exploits.
Arkansas State Police arrested three men on Dec. 21 after a high-speed chase following a theft at a GameStop store in West Memphis, the agency announced Tuesday.
Dennis Davis, 27, Davion Lawson, 30, and Bobby Logwood, 33, all of Memphis, were arrested.
According to a press release, police were alerted to the theft around 11 a.m. Saturday, when the suspects fled the scene in a white Nissan Maxima.
A chase was initiated when a trooper found the vehicle at the intersection of Avalon Street and the East Service Road, police said.
The car raced through residential streets at speeds exceeding 100 mph, according to police.
The chase ended when a tactical vehicle intervention was executed at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, police said.
Ultimately, the three suspects were unable to pull the big getaways often seen in the GTA video game series and are now in custody.
Davis faces charges that include theft of property, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and other traffic violations.
Lawson and Logwood were charged with theft of property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition to the arrest of the suspects, more than $2,600 worth of merchandise was recovered, police said.
