Clash between Lady Greyhounds, Southeast Arkansas as tempers flare

It was the _rst ever matchup between ASU Mid-South and Southeast Arkansas. In what would start off as a close game, would eventually end with 6 total players being ejected early in the 4th quarter.
ASU Mid-South would host their _rst Region 2 game of the year as they hosted Southeast Arkansas. It was a close game early as Southeast Arkansas would take a 16-13 lead at the end of the 1st quarter as they would force 7 ASU Mid-South turnovers. The second quarter was much like the _rst with the game staying close. Unfortunately for the Lady Greyhounds, they would _nd themselves losing the second quarter 18-15 trailing by 6 heading into the half. Southeast Arkansas would do their damage from beyond the arc as they would shoot 4-5 in the second quarter.
As the 2nd half got started, the Lady Sharks would start to widen the gap between the Lady Greyhounds continuing to light it up from deep. The Lady Greyhounds were doing all they could, but needed to get the stops to start their comeback at the start of the 4th quarter. Instead of their comeback getting underway, with just over 7 minutes remaining 2 players had to be held back from each other both resulting in a technical foul and ejection. During this, multiple players from Southeast Arkansas ran onto the oor resulting in a technical for each of them as well as an ejection. In total SEARK had 5 ladies ejected compared to ASU Mid-South lone player getting ejected. The game would eventually get started after a near 15 minute delay while the referee crew worked to get the situation correct. The Lady Sharks would continue to apply pressure as they would eventually take an 7049 win.
Southeast Arkansas was led by Patience Johnson’s 16 points. Amethyst Price had 14, and Tomya Grider _nished with 12 points.
Lula Jae-Tranfaglia led the Greyhounds with 18 points scoring 10 of those from the free throw line and pulling down 7 rebounds. London Robinson _nished with 9 points and 6 rebounds before fouling out.
What’s next?
The Greyhounds move to 0-11 on the season, and will look to get some momentum going when they begin the 2025 portion of their schedule following the winter break. ASU Mid-South will return to action on Monday, January 6, 2025, when they face SAU Tech on the road in a conference match-up. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game.
The first-ever meeting between the Greyhounds and Sharks was a physical contest that ultimately led to a half-dozen ejections.
