AKA planning Breast Cancer Awareness ‘Pink-Nic’
Free community event set for next Tuesday

It’s time once again to “think pink,” as October nears and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As part of that awareness- raising, the sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Pi Chi Omega Chapter of West Memphis are holding a “Pink-Nic” event on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to kick off the month with a bang.
“We are hoping for a large turnout to help our community,” said AKA’s Patricia Turner. “Everyone had an awesome time last year at the event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again this year!”
The Wonder City Boys & Girls Club, located at 412 S. 25th St., in West Memphis, will be the place to be from 3 to 7 p.m. next Tuesday to be a part of raising awareness for Breast Cancer research and get important information and assistance in the _ght against breast cancer.
Held in partnership with St. Bernard’s Healthcare and the West Memphis Parks & Recreation Department, there will be mammogram screenings for women age 40 and up via the Mobile Mammogram Unit, with exceptions for those with family history

of breast cancer. Insurance will be filed, if applicable. Bring a driver’s license and your insurance card (grant funding is available for the uninsured and underinsured).
In addition, there will be games and door prizes, music, free food and at 7:08 p.m., there will be a balloon release in honor of those lost to or currently battling breast cancer.

The sisters of AKA will continue their efforts of community service with a special Breast Cancer Awareness event next Tuesday afternoon. Put on your pink and come be a part of it.
