Happy Retirement

On Sept. 3, the West Memphis Fire Department’s A-Shift and Staff gathered at Fire Station No. 1 to send off Richard Brown during his last shift before retirement. Brown, according to his fellow firefighters, is “well known as one of those ‘go-getter’ firefighters that any of us would want beside us or coming to get us if we were in trouble.” He retires with a combined 32 years of Arkansas Fire Service service and has served with Blytheville FD and as the Assistant Chief for Gosnell FD. At West Memphis FD, his most recent assignment was as a SORT Captain assigned to Ladder 1. He was A-Shift's 'Acting Battalion' when their Battalion was off duty.
