Arrest made after physical altercation with 8th-grade student

AWest Memphis School District teacher and coach found himself under arrest following an incident at Wonder Junior High School two weeks ago.

From the West Memphis School District: “The West Memphis School District is aware of the recent arrest of one of our teachers following an incident at Wonder Jr. High School. The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority, and we take any concern related to their wellbeing very seriously. We recognize that events like this can be upsetting for students and parents, and we are working cooperatively with the WMPD as this situation continues to evolve. We want to assure you that we are actively investigating this matter internally and gathering any relevant information related to the incident. WMSD has a strict policy against any form of violence. As such, the teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”

Kenneth Cauley, 29, of Marion was arrested on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 15, around 10 a.m. He was quickly processed and released less than an hour later, booked on charges of Battery in the Third Degree (Purpose of Causing Injury/Causes Injury) as well as Filing a False Report with a Law Enforcement Agency.

that led to the arrrest of a 13year-old student. The 8th grader was arrested after the inciden between him and Cauley on Friday, Aug. 9, but was later released with all charges dropped.
