Come one, come all to the Crittenden County 4-H Club.

Crittenden County Extension Agent Ali Salisbury has put together a slate of fun and educational events for local youngsters to participate in as part of the 4-H Club experience.

Up first, on Monday, July 1, it’s a Crochet Class. Crochet isn’t just an “old folks” activity. Kids ages 8 to 19 are invited to come learn the finer points of the popular needlework style.

The class is from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Extension Office, located at 116 Center St., in Marion, next to the county courthouse.

The cost is $12 and includes all materials and supplies.

Space is limited, so go to https://4h.zsuite.org/ to sign up and be a part of the fun.

Next up is the Crittenden County Junior Master Gardeners Club meeting on Wednesday, July 3, from 8 to 10 a.m., outside the Extention Office.

The Jr. Master Gardeners is a new community youth club open to ages 5 to 19, and their first meeting will be on how to design a garden plot and plant seeds.

“Please bring sunscreen,” cautioned Salisbury. “Snacks and water will be provided.”

There is no cost to attend or participate.

And then, on Friday, July 12, it’s the 4-H Day Camp, an allday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) event featuring an agricultural drone demonstration, an archaeological booth, atlatl (spear) throwing, an outdoor skills class, fishing and kayaking at the Parkin Archaeological State Park.

Registration is $30 and is open for ages 5 to 19 (under 9 must have an adult chaperone) and the deadline to register is

Monday, July 1. To register online, visit https://4h.zsuite.org/. You must enrol in 4-H first, then register for the event.

The Day Camp will be at the Marion Recreational Complex, 3821 Complex Dr., in Marion.

The 4-H Day Camp is sponsored by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Southern Drone Ops, and Parkin Archeological State Park.

Lunch will be provided by Arkansas Farm Bureau.
