Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc (AFGC) held their 88th Annual Convention on April 1-2 in Little Rock, at the Crowne Plaza. Those representing from the Hughes Town & Country Garden Club were: Teresa Shannon, Pam Ellis, Holly Bacon and Melinda Akins. A big Thanks goes to the Pulaski District for hosting and the MacArthur Garden Club.

Election of new Officers for 2019-2021 were sworn in. Pam Ellis will serve as 2nd Vice-President for the AFGC and will also be treasurer for the Northeast District. Holly Bacon will be the new Northeast District

Holly Bacon was not able to attend the April Town Meeting, since she was in Little Rock for the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs Convention. The Town had announcements that the Town Clean-Up is scheduled for May 17-20.

City Hall will be changing the working hours to 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday- Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Fridays.

Reminder: If you have a business or are hiring anyone to perform any work, before starting, you need to contact the City Code Enforcement Officer, to see if you must purchase a permit. Failure to do so will result in a fine. If you have any questions call City Hall at 870-339-3104 during business hours.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to quite a few family and friends in the last three weeks. Ronnie Nichols passed away on March 30. Nellie Davis Bailey on March 31. Bob Latham passed away on April 6 and Robert Allison, Sr on April 13.

Year-Round Bunco hostess was Jayla White.

High score went to Donna Culver. Low score was won by Stacey McDermott, most big buncos went to Stephanie Shelby. Tasha White had travelers at the end of the night. Everyone enjoyed air fried wings, baked potatoes, salad and chocolate chip cookies.

The Horseshoe Lake Ladies Bunco group was hosted by Holly Bacon. There was a roll off between four people for most big buncos, with Lethia Jo Cupples winning. There was a roll off for high score between Summer Bacon and Lethia Jo with Lethia Jo winning.

Pat Walters had travelers pillow at the end of the night. A roll off for low score between Holly Bacon and Jeanine Stewart, with Holly wining. The ladies enjoyed Taco Soup, served with Tortilla Chips, shredded cheese, sour cream and Louisiana Crunch Cake.
