Medical clinic a success
Medical clinic a success
A by- the- numbers look at community health project
ralphhardin@gmail.com They called it “Innovative Readiness Training,” but for the thousands of local residents who benefitted from the nearly month-long no-cost Greyhound Medical Clinic, it was almost a medical mission of mercy.
From June 6 through June 25, free medical services, including health and wellness, dental, optical and behavioral health treatments, were mada available to the public in a joint effort between the Delta Regional Authority and the U.S. Department of Defense.
The event took place at Lehr Arena in West Memphis, and by any measurement,
the clinic was a success.
In all, 6,517 patients were served through the clinic, with 400 servicemen and servicewomen participating in the effort. The providers made 1,925 medical assessments, performed 1,915 tooth extractions, fabricated 2,492 pairs of eyeglasses and conducted 173 mental health consultations.
The total value of the services provided was estimated at $1.5 million.
