Town Meeting

Rick Scarbrough, Water Operator, gave his report that water samples had been good and the CCR report was in and had been distributed properly. There have been minor problems with the fuses at the well. Council did vote in favor of a $500 cap on getting an A/C Compressor. Pump station #1 & #2 were pumped out before the 4th of July and it’s time for #1 to be pumped again. Council voted in favor of Rick Scarbrough being allowed to make the call to have sewers pumped out when needed, with out having to contact each council member on the day services are needed. Each time a station is pumped out it runs around $350, council discussed watching the numbers of times they have to do this, so they could allot budget properly next year. ADEQ made an inspection recently at the ponds. In the report they are to send it recommends that the willows inside the gate need to be taken down, the number one pond needs to be aerated, the grass sample taken showed no e-coli in the sample and council recommended that city attorney contact owner of property near Ponds, who recently dug ditch and explain possible liabilities. This month Patti Castle updated the report for Fire Chief Thomen. She stated the fireworks went well, however if the costs continue to go up and donations don’t come in, the fireworks could be eliminated in the future. She also wanted everyone to understand that if you use a cell phone to call 911 there is a possibility it will bounce off the Robinsville or Walls tower in Mississippi. She said to be sure and state Horseshoe Lake, AR and may benefit you also, to say Crittenden County, AR. If you request a specific ambulance service to pick you up when you call 911, they will not dispatch Horseshoe Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Deanna McDermott gave a report, for Code Enforcement Officer, Vince McDermott, during his absence. They were still sending letters out in regard to grass cuttings, there was some response, but those that did not, have had the grass cut by the city. Packets are available at the County Clerk’s office, mid July, for Alderman’s position( s). Council wanted to thank Karla Fann, for donating her father’s American Flag to be hung at City Hall, since the other flag was worn out.
