Here’s what everyone is talking about this week:
In regard to Sunday night’s peaceful protest in Memphis. Did they happen to think that bridge carries ambulances from WM and Crittenden County to Memphis hospitals? Why were they allowed to close the I40 bridge with no consequences? So, are they setting a precedent to do this again whenever they want? Let them close a city street but not an interstate! [ Editor’s Note: You could have probably just stopped with “ Did they happen to think…” The short answer is simply, “ No.” The longer answer is that it did not matter to those that organized and participated in blocking the bridge that they were foster-ing an environment for chaos and tragedy. It only mattered to them that their agenda be recognized. Anything other than that was simply incidental] ***
I thought there was supposed to be a big protest at the complex last night???
[ Editor’s Note: I heard about five different days, times and places that anywhere from 500 to 1,000 folks were supposed to be gathering in West Memphis Monday and Tuesday. I’m not sure what the actual plan was or even if there was an actual plan. Maybe it was too hot? I don’t know what the ideal temperature is for a protest, but I’d reckon it’s south of 94 degrees]
*** I wonder if there will be a protest for the officers that lost their lives in dallas. no i feel that there will not be one for them. Everybody is so quick to judge, even the preachers. But my Bible tells me that there is only 1 who is really a true judge and that is God. Killing is wrong no matter what color. So why not protest for the 5 children that was killed in Memphis? Why because she was african american? I see so much going on in this world that I am afraid for my grandchildren, my son, my daughters, my nephews, my nieces. I’m afraid for my friends and even my enemies. all matter not just african americans. If you have never experienced a close family dying then you don’t know the hurt that people go through. ALL RACES. I ran a daycare in my hometown and color was not a factor to me. people always assume the worst when a man is killed by an officer. but what about when an officer is killed by a man. something is wrong with our society.
I’m sorry that this is so long but these things have been on my mind for years. no protests for the hungry, homeless, abused men, women and children, no protests for the men and women who give their lives everyday to protect and serve overseas and here in the U. S. Firemen, police, volunteers, emts, airlifters that gets that person to the hospital in the nick of time. Police don’t make it hard, we do. Instead of riling up a group of people to express their anger to prove a sometimes misguided point, why not pray for God to take charge of the situation.
AND IF ANYONE WANT TO DEBATE WITH ME BECAUSE THEY ASSUME I AM WHITE, PLEASE LET THEM KNOW THAT I AM AN AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE AND THAT I AM PROUD TO BE BBW: BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN [ Editor’s Note: As a MAWM: Moderately Attractive White Man, I can agree with what you’re saying]
*** You need to brush up on your math. If the track opened in 1949, that is a little more than 60 years, just playing with you. [ Editor’s Note: I edit words, not numbers… leave me alone!]
*** I would like to know where to send my bill for 4 hours lost wages due to the protest in Memphis Sunday night? I was stuck unable to get to the Hospital and missed 4 hours of my shift. [ Editor’s Note: I was, as a tongue- incheek gesture, going to give you the address of # Black-LivesMatter. Since I don’t have them in my Rolodex, I Googled “ black lives matter mailing address,” which directed me to their website.
When I clicked on it, the site informed me that my IP address was being scanned to decide whether or not to allow me access to their site. I guess I passed muster, because I was then directed to the contact info page. There, I was asked to enter my email address, again, and before I proceeded, I was given a few helpful tips.
“ Before you Contact a # BlackLivesMatter Chapter: Please note that # Black-LivesMatter is a network predicated on Black self- determination, and BLM Chapters reserve the right to limit participation based on this principle. Please be aware that BLM Chapters have varying membership policies, and may or may not be accepting new members at this time. Also note that membership requirements vary by chapter. Lastly, expect some delay in response to your inquiry.” Then, just in case I was up to no good, the final note: “ We exercise the right to ban any IP address we find sending harassing content.” So, sorry, I guess you’re on your own. I suppose you could try 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D. C.]
*** What is with all of these kids walking the streets at all hours of the day and night? Don’t they have anything better to do? [ Editor’s Note: Maybe they’re playing Pokémon Go?]
