Lots of speeding and running stop signs on Haden St… here in Crawfordsville, plus kids are riding there 4 wheeler up and down street and alleys as fast as they can… someone going to get hurt bad …lots of children live on this street, for cars to be going this fast… maybe speed bumps Mayor Marotti… [ Editor’s Note: Man, I know they’re super cool and very popular, but I hate, hate, hate four- wheelers, ATVs, whatever you want to call them. I know they have their place in the world, but out in the neighborhood, even if you live “ out in the country” in Crawfordsville or wherever, ain’t it. Forget running over someone or running into a car… just riding along, all it takes is an unseen change in elevation and suddenly, there’s hundreds of pounds of machinery on top of you or you’re flying through the air head- first. All your other points are pretty valid, too.

Let’s hope Mayor Marotti reads “ Text the Times.”]

*** Shame on Clint Albright!

[ Editor’s Note: I like it when our texters get to the point!

Just to touch on this subject, though… I’m with the City of West Memphis on this, in that, the city went out of its way to accomodate the Southland Classic. In fact, the first year, I went out to the park, and there had been massive amounts of rain, but the Parks Department and other city workers went above and beyond reasonable expectations to get the tournament in. I have always been a big supporter of this event. I think West Memphis ( and Marion) have so much untapped potential as a destination for baseball and softball tournaments if someone would just take the reins and make it happen ( I’m totally available!). But I also see Mr. Albright’s point of view, in that he has to make his teams happy and if the Marion fields were both available and in better shape, well I can’t blame them for wanting to play there. However, it seems like certain promises weren’t kept and communication ( going both ways) was just bungled. I hope there can be some kind of resolution that will keep the tournament alive in this community going forward, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Having said that, though, how awesome would it be if Marion and West Memphis could put a collective effort toward a massive softball event that utilized both sports complexes and brought hundreds of people to the community to fill up our hotels and restaurants? Prett awesome, I think]

[ Editor’s Note: I swear to all that I hold dear that this will be the last text I will ever run about Gordon Floyd. If anyone else has anything else to say about it, start a blog…] OMG! Folks there is so much more in this town to complain about. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Floyd and his wife and they were the friendly warmest, most down to earth folks. Personally, if I were homeless, hungry or abused I would not care where the help came from. No, it was not pretty, “ butt” I sure got a good laugh.

How much have you complainers donated lately?

*** Glad to see they were able to catch the MAN who shot the BOY in the street like a dog. Three words… rope, tree, swing!!! [ Editor’s Note: Kudos, to be sure, for the WMPD ( along with the U. S. Marshals) for developing, tracking down and arresting the suspect in last Tuesday’s homicide. But,

I’m willing to bet there are a lot more than three words to this story]
