The First United Methodist Church celebrated the heritage of 110 years of ministry and service to the community recently.

On Saturday those attending were invited to visit the Crittenden County Museum, Gibson Bayou Church and Methodist Church to visit and enjoy refreshments. A continental breakfast was served on Sunday morning before the worship service led by a former pastor, Rev. David Baker. His wife, Lynn Baker, was a guest soloist. Alex Turner was organist.

Following the service a luncheon was held in Morrison Fellowship Hall. The table was over-laid with a white cloth and decorated with a large arrangement of sunflowers.

Approximately 130 attended from Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Kansas.

*** Earle Baptist Church Family Life Center was the setting for the Happy Hour Club potluck luncheon held June 6. Becky Knapp, president, presided.

The group sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” led by Rev. Tony Wells.

Rev. Wells gave the devotional.

Those recognized as having June birthdays were Rev. Stacie Grubbs, Jean Allensworth, Ken Lancaster and Sue Ann Elms.

Allison Bird, Rev. Wells, Becky Knapp, Ken Lancaster, Rev. Grubbs and Doris Gately won door prizes.

Others present were Christine Littlejohn, Frankie Smith, Janis Lancaster, Doug Manchester, J. W. Ellis, Sue Dorman, Dot McKinney, Jamayia Allen and Johnny Jenkins.

*** Lighted Pathways Church hosted a three day District Conference recently.

Two ministers in the conference were ordained, Rev. Cheryl Roe of Free Life Church in West Memphis and Rev. James Williams, an evangelist from Cherry Valley.

Rev. Charles Kendrick attended with his wife, Amanda and was guest speaker for the three nights. Rev. Kendrick also ordained the ministers.

He and his wife are from Alexander.

The Praise and Worship Team from Free Life Church provided music and Rev. Bubba Rogers of Wynne was accompanist.

Those attending enjoyed a chicken dinner following the service Friday evening.

*** Eugene Barham of Dallas, Texas was a recent visitor in the home of Jimmie Barham.

*** Sue Ann Elms, along with Eric Elms of Memphis, was a visitor in the home of Elaine Williams in Memphis June. 11.

*** Donna and Bobby Littlejohn of West Memphis and Abby Carter of Fayetteville were recent visitors in the home of Christine Littlejohn.

*** Mary Jo and Tommy Staggs were in Birmingham, Alabama for the weekend recently where they participated in an archery tournament.

*** Adria and Mark Roberts, along with Susie and Mike Root of Marion, spent three days recently in Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi.

Adria and Mark celebrated their anniversary while they were on the trip.

*** Leslie and Richard Bright of Arkadelphia are the parents of their second baby, born May 13 in Little Rock at 5 p.m. Jane Charlotte weighted 7 pounds and was welcomed home by her sister Mary Erwin, age, 5.

Grandparents are Jane Bonady Watson of Arkadelphia and Lloyd Bright of Arkadelphia, Susan and George Watson of Earle.

*** Richard Bright is running for State Representative, District 18, State House out of Arkadelphia. He is married to Leslie Watson Bright, formerly of Earle.
