April hot streak carries righty to team
Sports Editor Despite his team missing the Class 6A state tournament, Marion senior righthanded pitcher Peyton Moore had a season to remember.
The Crowley’s Ridge signee was the lone Patriot selected to the Class 6AEast All-Conference and Class 6A All-State team.
Moore’s record on the hill was just 2-7 overall after picking up wins against West Memphis and Mountain Home in consecutive starts in April.
That hot streak actually extended another week as the righty held the eventual Class 6A state champion Jonesboro Golden Hurricane to 3 runs on the road in a 3-1 Marion loss.
In addition to the 2-7 overall record, Moore posted an ERA of 3.1 and 42 strikeouts on the season.
Marion missed out on a state tournament berth to Mountain Home after losing the third tiebreaker to the Bombers. The Patriots were 3-24 overall in 2016, with a mark of 3-11 in the 7A/6A-East.
