What is the great deal about Prince? When a celebrity overdoses we should adore him? [ Editor’s Note: While I am completely against this celebrity worship phenomenon we seem to be gripped by in this country ( I would almost rather stab myself in the ear with an icepick rather than hear the words “ Kardashian” or “ Jenner” ever again), I almost refrained from responding to this. Have you ever heard the term “ troll” by chance? In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord, starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory comments with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response, often for their own amusement.
But I’ll sort of take the bait here, since I have a couple of things to say. First, not only did Prince die last Thursday, but so did former WWE star Chyna. Now, I won’t speculate on the cause of death for either individual, though drug overdose is one of the leading suspicions for both, but Chyna ( age 46, real name Joannie Laurer), while certainly not on the same level of notariety as Prince, was part of a very large cultural phenomenon in the mid-90’ s, with the pro wrestling boom period. And as a life-long wrestling fan, I have seen way too many wrestlers die young, from drugs to car accidents to other tragedies, so I was already kind of down when that nows broke… and then I heard about Prince’s death. While 57 is too old to be considered “ dying young,” it is way too young to die and it not be a tragedy. Just one example of how cool Prince was is that he has hundreds, if not thousands, of unreleased songs that he intended to extend his musical legacy years after his death. Obviously, he won’t be missed by everyone, but his talent and influence are undeniable]
*** Just wondering if the ET can put on their investigator caps and find out why when customers use the West Memphis Wendy’s drive through they can be sure to witness employees lean out of the window and slam a piece of metal on the ground just below them after a car has pulled out with their order. It’s becoming one of the great mysteries of our times and I’d love to finally know the answer.
[ Editor’s Note: It turns out there is a grumpy old troll that lives just below the surface of the earth just below the Wendy’s drive- thru window.
They have to keep it at bay whilst they make the transfer from the window to your car, because troll’s love the juicy and delicious taste of Wendy’s fresh- never- frozen hamburgers. If you recall, the original Wendy’s there burned to the ground several years ago. That was due to the staff being too slow with its daily appeasement offering of triple baconators. Let’s hope they are able to avoid such a tragedy in the future, although there’s a Wendy’s in Marion now, so it wouldn’t be as big of a deal as it was back then, when I sadly had to go months without a # 2 combo… and, OK, I’ll see what I can find out ( fast forward a couple of days) … So, here’s the scoop. It’s actually a dropped money retriever. You see, when exchanging money between the window and the car, money occasionally gets dropped. They use the “ device” to collect the money from the ground without having to go out and pick it up]
*** What a great turn out for the Crittenden County Museum Open House!!! That is a place that everyone should visit at least once and no body knows about.
[ Editor’s Note: I saw some pics on Facebook from the open house, and it did seem to be a nice event for them.
As a history buff, I’m glad we have it. It is a bit out of the way for some, being in Earle, but it’s a pretty cool setup with a ton of local history to explore]
