A- State football Spring Game will feature guest coaches
ASU Media Relations JONESBORO, Ark. – Sports Illustrated writer Thayer Evans and two Arkansas State football alltime greats, Demario Davis and Don Jones, will be taking on the role of “Celebrity Coaches” during A-State’s annual spring game April 15, and the Red Wolves are also looking for 10 guest assistant coaches to join the action.
The guest assistant coaches will each have a position group they will be involved with during the spring game, which is presented by JTown’s Grill and set to begin with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Centennial Bank Stadium. Following a 44:50 p.m. period when kids can access the field to visit with players and coaches, the guest assistant coaches will take their position group through pregame drills starting at 4:50 p.m.
The positions may be purchased for $1,000 each and the participants will receive the full coaching experience, a cap/visor, coaching gear, an autographed football, sideline passes for the game and autographed pictures with Davis and Jones, who are current team members of the Cleveland Browns. The positions will be filled on a first-comefirst- serve basis by contacting the Red Wolves Foundation at 870-9722401. The participants cannot be prospect age (9th-12th grade) due to NCAA rules.
Evans will serve as the “Celebrity Head Coach” and operate on the offensive side of the ball, while Davis and Jones will act as “Celebrity Co-Head Coaches” for the defense. The game will feature two quarters in the first half and a running clock in the second. With at least 80 former football players expected to attend the game, there will be a public recognition of the lettermen between the first and second quarters. The spring game is free and open to the public, and the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive an Arkansas State 2015 Sun Belt Conference championship poster. Fans can enter Centennial Bank Stadium on the east or west side. Access to the Woodard McAlister Family Club and Johnny Allison Tower requires a ticket.
Fans in attendance at the spring game could possibly appear on the official 2016 Arkansas State football poster by using a photo booth that will be located on the west concourse, so participants are encouraged to wear A-State colors and gear to have their picture taken.
Additionally, the A-State Athletics Department will conduct a “Select-A-Seat” promotion between 4-6:00 p.m., when current seats still available for the 2016 season will be marked for purchase. Fans can purchase season tickets for a location marked as “available” by removing the seat tag and following instructions on it. Following the scrimmage, there will be an opportunity for fans to take the field for photos and autographs with the team and coaches. Season tickets for the Red Wolves may be purchased through the AState Ticket Office.
