Memphis cardio group coming to Marion

Stern Cardiovascular Foundation set to open local office

The largest cardiovascular group in Memphis is coming to Marion.

Stern Cardiovascular Foundation has announced that it will be opening an office in the city in April.

“We are so excited,” said Rose Marable, marketing director for Stern Cardiovascular Foundation. “We have been so well received. Everyone over there has been so nice and so kind. It is making it so much easier on us.”

The Stern Cardiovascular Foundation was founded in Memphis in 1920 and is recognized as one of the leading cardiovascular research and treatment centers in the country.

Stern merged with Memphis Heart Clinic and is aligned with Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation. It maintains patient care in area hospitals including Baptist Memorial Hospitals, St. Francis Hospital, and Methodist Healthcare/Methodist Hospitals.

Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women.

The Marion office will open April 4 and will be located at 200 Military Road Ste. #2.

Marable said the Marion office will be served by Dr.

Yaser Cheema, who will see patients on Mondays and Wednesdays.

“He is an interventional cardiologist,” Marable said. “He is trained in every area of cardiology. Initially, patients will be able to get consultations. And he is also working to get (Echocardiogram Stress Test) and treadmill.”

Marable said Dr. Cheema was hired specifically to help Stern expand its presence into Arkansas.

“We have clinics all over the place,” Marable said.

“But we didn’t have one in Arkansas. So this was his passion. When he was hired, that is what he was hired to do.”

The office will have two employees.

“We are hoping it will grow,” Marable said.

Marion Chamber of Commerce Mike Demster said Stern is a welcome addition to the growing number of medical clinics choosing to open in Marion.

“We are excited to have them,” Demster said. “They are very well regarded. I think we will see more as a result of the new hospital.”
