Recognition for Rescuers

George Phillips Jr. (right) and George Phillips, Sr., standing in for his daughter Wanza, received commendations from Mayor Marco McClendon for rescuing a drowning victim from the swollen bayou adjacent to Southland Casino during the rain-soaked first weekend in March. The mayor held the life-saving effort up as a local example of being a good citizen.
