A Worthy Proclamation

Mayor Marco McClendon dedicated February 21 as Robert Bates day in West Memphis. Bates’ family stood to receive Black History Month recognition for the West Memphis native. Bates served in law enforcement for 40 years and was the first black detective at the Crittenden County Sheriff Department.
