ralphhardin@ gmail.com The cold outside might have you fooled, but spring is just around the comer, and with spring comes the spring sports season.
Yes, it’s that time of year again! Time to dig the cleats out of the closet and oil that glove. The Crittenden County Boys & Girls Club is holding registration now for a full slate of sprig sports, with something for ages 3 to 18 across a number of leagues and age divisions.
Registration started Saturday and runs through Saturday, March 16.
After a successful inaugural season, the club is bringing back volleyball.
Open to girls ages 8 to 18, the new season. Last year, the club launched volleyball, with seven teams, and they hope to increase that number this season. The fee for volleyball is $70 ($80 for non-club members).
Also coming back is one of the club’s most popular new programs, co-ed soccer. Open to players ages 3 to 14, the soccer program gets bigger every year, with a spring and a fall league. Like volleyball, the registration fee for soccer is $70 ($80 for non-club members).
Another program that is only a few years old but continuing to grow is the girls fast-pitch softball program.
Softball is open this season to girls ages 6 to 14. The registration fee for softball is $80 ($95 for non-club members). The softball league will be divided into machine pitch and kid pitch divisions, with age splits determined by the number of registrations.
And the club’s oldest, and longest-standing league is back for another season.
Baseball and spring go hand-in-hand, and the Boys Club Baseball program goes back decades. This year, the littlest sluggers can sign up for co-ed tee-ball for boys and girls ages 4 to 6, and there’s even a 3year-old fun league (games are on Saturday’s only).
Registration for tee-ball is $60 for members and $75 for non-members).
The 3-year-old fun league in only $20 for registration.
Baseball is open to boys ages 6 to 13. The registration fee is $80 ($95 for non-members), and will have coach pitch, machine pitch and kid pitch leagues.
There are multiplechild family discounts and other discounts available, and players are welcome to participate in multiple leagues (scheduling will be done to accommodate multi-sport players).
Call the club to find out how you can reduce your sports fees to only $50. For more information, call the Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County at (870) 7351658, or stop by at 990 N. Missouri St., in West Memphis.
It’s time to get signed up for spring sports at the Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County. Boys and girls can register now through March 16 for softball and baseball, soccer, and volleyball.
