hbacond7 @ aol .com Garden Club The Hughes Town & Country Garden Club (HT& CGC) had their December meeting at Urban Earth Garden Center in Memphis. December hostesses were Janey Carpenter and Pam Ellis.

Jobelle Johnston, brought her daughter, Mrs. Saul as a guest. The ladies enjoyed a nice luncheon provided by The Cupboard. Their program was presented by Greg Touliatos, owner of Urban Earth Garden Center on herbs. Door prizes were awarded to: Teresa Shannon, Jobelle Johnston, Mrs. Saul and Holly Bacon. Afterwards, the ladies enjoyed shopping for Christmas and personal things since they were at a nursery. Due to a schedule conflict 2019-2021 officers were elected at this meeting. The officers for the next term are as follows: President-Melinda Akins, 1 st Vice-President – Butch Murray, 2nd Vice-President- Janey Carpenter, Secretary- Sherry Dodd, Corresponding Secretary-Kendra Hayes, Treasurer-Holly Bacon and Parliamentarian- Pamela My rick. The HT& CGC takes a break in January and February, they will resume in March with Installation of Officers. ^^^

Town Meeting

The Town of Horseshoe Lake City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 4, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. Also, there will be a Budget meeting prior to the regular Council meeting. The Budget meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. The regular Council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Please make note of the change and they hope to see everyone there! If you have any questions, please feel free to call City Hall. 870-3393104.

Fire Dept. Training

Practice

The Horseshoe Lake Volunteer Fire Department (HLVFD) has been working diligently on the training facility on Trout Road. They had their first practice session on Jan. 27. Other Fire Departments that participated with HLVFD were Crawfordsville, Edmondson, Hughes and Marion.

Neighborhood Watch

ALL residents of the Horseshoe Lake area (not just the Town) are encouraged to attend a meeting on Feb. 11, at 6 p.m., at the Surf Club Building.

This meeting is regarding starting a Neighborhood Watch Program with the assistance of the Crittenden County Sheriff Department. The plan is to put out flyers one week prior to remind everyone.
