I am wondering why there had not been any article of the drug incident in the police depth. As you know, Marion is a small town and usually so kind of word to out within 30. So, to me and many others, just tell the truth the first time and practice what you preach everyday. I know the detective from Marion has been arrested and what he was arrested for. I also know he is innocent until proven quilts.
Never the less, the details should have made the paper.
Living in Marion, I know that there are other within the police department should be scared. They WILL get you !!
The people of Marion and the police dept know who you are and if someone doesn’t stop them, the people will loose all faith in our police. This aesthetic was worthy of a font page article with pictures, but not a story at all. So, the citizens will automatically think the worst. The police and lawyers of our dear old court house just think they are so smart they want get caught. YOU ARE WRONG.
[Editor’s Note: Everyone thinks they have the inside scoop about everything. My favorite was a couple of years ago when there was a lockdown on the Marion High School campus and the rumors went to flying about an active shooter and multiple guns found on the campus and all sorts of fake news being spread by people who had no real information and only wanted to feel important or get attention for themselves or whatever reason people who lie for no reason have. Just to be clear, we did run a frontpage story announcing the investigation by the Arkansas State Police that included every confirmed fact we had at that time. No one has been arrested for anything in connection with that investigation, so either someone lied to you or you ’re just making assumptions on your own and presenting them as fact. The public has a right to know but not a right to know “right now”… no matter what you might read on Facebook] On point counterpoint on January 18. Why Mr. Coulter are you so upset about the medical marijuana? How many different medicines do they make out of Cocaine, I don’t hear you complaining about that, just asking. [Editor’s Note: While it's always fun to see someone chiding Michael, / hope people realize that we are just presenting two sides of the “issue of the week” and it’s all (mostly) in good fun as we rake each other over the coals. Now, if you really want to know what he thinks, read “Our View.”
That's all him, not me!] Dear Marion Police Chief, I think your officers need some investigative training. Recently there was a rash of automobile break ins in Angelos Grove, Including two thefts of firearms. The officer that came seemed to have little interest in investigating the theft on $5000 worth of shotguns and an $700 handgun. When the Marion police left an Arkansas State trooper came and did an extensive investigation including interviewing possible witnesses and checking nearby establishments to see if the cameras showed anything. Should we just call the State Police instead of the Marion police? [ Editor’s Note: Well, I can’t speak to your experience but in the one instance in which I needed a police officer to investigate on my behalf they were very thorough, including taking fingerprints and statements, and this was at 2:30 in the morning after someone was in our vehicles] I know a lot of negative comment have been made about the Marion Police Department but I will say that their response time for my calls have always been quick, less than 5 minutes and super nice officers. [Editor’s Note: This might be a hot take, but I don't think whatever problems the Marion Police Department has right now has anything to do with the response time or niceness of its officers] Today (Wednesday) we had a problem with our security system. ADT followed procedure and called the Marion Police. The response time was so quick that 2 officers got to our house before ADT hung up. Thanks [Editor’s Note: Again, the MPD, at least from my experience, has a number of quality officers. The problem people keep coming back to from what I gather is a lack of information being filtered to the public about crime that the public feels entitled to, right or wrong] REALLY??????? RAINING TODAY, WEDNESDAY, AND PAPER DELIVERED “WITHOUT BEING BAGGED”, NOT GOTTA WAIT TILL IT DRIES OUT TO READ????? MR.
DAVID JUST GETTING WORSE!!!!!!! [Editor’s Note: I don’t know what to say honestly. Every time I get one of these, I bring it to the attention of the folks who handle this. Sorry… again] I guess people overlook the fact that the “golden goose” dog track is the reason West Memphis has so much crime!
It is also a reason for all the drugs in this town. Sin is still sin and the dog track is sinful. Believe it or not we once had a mayor who wouldn’t accept the money the dog track gives to the city because he knew what it would lead to! [Editor’s Note: I would question the validity of both of those claims. I mean, I get the concept of “vice leads to vice” but let’s not kid ourselves. There are many, many criminals in this community who have never even been to Southland. And there are many, many things that the city would not be able to fund without revenues from Southland. Sure, you can probably correlate a portion of local crime with gambling but it would seem that you are drawing conclusions based on your personal beliefs rather than any hard data]
