Shooting a season-low 39.0 percent from the field, the Greyhounds had to rely on offensive rebounds to get an 85-75 win Monday at Crowley’s Ridge College.
ASU Mid-South (12-5) used 25 offensive rebounds and a season-low 11 turnovers to offset their worst shooting game of the season.
Jalen Lynn scored all 15 of his points in the first half on five treys to keep the Greyhounds ahead 3837 at halftime after the Pioneers hit 9 three-pointers. But the Greyhounds broke open the game halfway through the second half as Zach Byrd scored 13 of his team-high 17 points and pulled down 9 rebounds to help ASU Mid-South to the win.
Christian White (13 points, 9 rebounds) and Ike Moore (13 points, 8 rebounds) also came through in the clutch while Shaheed Halk dished out a game-high 7 assists.
The Greyhounds now turn their attention to Region 2 newcomer National Park College this evening at 6:00 p.m. for their first of two matchups this season.
The Nighthawks are currently 11-2 on the season and will have a return game in The Dog House on Thursday, February 14.
