Czantowski does it all for Mountain Home
WM School District The West Memphis Blue Devils ran into a hot-hitting Mountain Home club Wednesday at Tilden Rodgers and the Bombers swept a doubleheader in convincing fashion.
West Memphis fell 13-2 in the opener and then lost 10-0 in the nightcap to fall to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the 7A/6A-East Conference.
In the opener, Mountain Home's Ryan Czantkowski did it on the mound and at the plate, scattering eight hits and then slamming a air of home runs, one of which was inside the park.
In the first inning and batting in the three-hole, Czantkowski found the gap in right-center and circled the bases easily for a threerun homer. He then added a two-out, two-run homer in the fourth inning for a 6-0 Bomber lead.
Losing hurler Trevor Wise went the first 3.2 innings, followed by lefty Morgan Williams.
The Blue Devils got two singles from sophomore Curtis Washington, who enjoyed a productive day at the plate, while junior Nick Allsbrook reached base three times on two walks and a single.
Senior Jordan Walls also had a double for West Memphis while Hayden Spears, Ta'Darrius Magee, Wise and Taylor Roeder all had one single.
In the nightcap, Washington's double was the only Blue Devil safety. 'It's still early in the season, so you can't look too far into this one, but at the same time we need to get better and we don't like losing,' said West Memphis interim head coach Jonathan Crymes. 'We don't want to look like this again. No matter the situation, we gotta come to the park ready to play.'
