Several seats up for grabs in local races
ralphhardin@gmail.com When voters head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7, they will be choosing not only a new president, but also selecting their preferences in a number of state and county races, as well as deciding on a number of statewide ballot measures and amendment proposals.
But residents of each city and town in Crittenden County will also be choosing from a field of candidates in several municipal races. Not all positions are up for election, and not all open positions had a candidate file with the County Clerk, but seats in which one or more candidates did file include (listed alphabetically, by city/town):
Anthonyville
Council Position I — Solon L. Anthony; Council Position II — Eddie Lee Bailey; Council Position III — Freddie Lee Hicks; Council Position IV — Mildora Hicks, Roy L. Eason; Council Position V — Leroy C. Wright Sr.
Clarkedale

Udell Sr., Tyrone Hurst Earle voters will also be asked to decide on a Recall Vote on Mayor Carolyn Jones. A “Yes” vote will mean favoring the removal of Mayor Jones from office. A “No” vote” will mean favoring keeping her in office. If voters approve the recall, a vacancy will be declared and a Special Election will be held to fill that vacancy.

In order to vote in the upcoming general election, voters must apply for registration by Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016. Early voting/Absentee voting begins Monday, Oct. 24 and runs through Monday, Nov. 7. Absentee ballots must be received by Tuesday, Nov. 1. All early voting will be conducted at the Crittenden County Courthouse.
Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls will be open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
