WMHS tennis tunes up for district
WM School District The Academies of West Memphis tennis teams recently saw 6A-East Conference action before tuning up for next week's conference tournament in Searcy.
On Monday of this week, the Blue Devil boys lost 6 matches to 2.
In singles, No. 1 Carlson Bennage defeated Davis Threlkeld 8-1 and Dylan Rea 8-2.
Tanner Ramsey lost to Rea 8-1 and Threlkeld 8-0. In doubles, Kaiden Holt and Wallace Crain lost to Luke Wolfe and Rees Ridout 8-5 and to Wil Wilkins and Nate Vilemez 8-5.
Brunson Langston and Gavin Carlson lost to Wilkins and Vilemez 8-1 and to Wolfe and Ridout 81.
The Lady Devils dropped all six of their matches.
In singles, Bailey Merritt lost to Kamie Provence 8-0 and Katherine Formel 8-1.
In doubles, Hannah Boozer and Olivia Harrison lost to Carmen Barker and Molly Parker 8-2 and to Alex Ann Threlkeld and Margaret Lim 8-3. Lauren Smiche and Hannah McCall lost to Threlkeld and Lim 8-0 and to Barker and Parker 8-0.
On Tuesday of this week, the Blue Devils traveled to Jonesboro where the boys lost all eight matches.
Bennage lost to Eric Richardson 8-3 and to Mason Mitchell 8-3.
Ramsey fell 8-0 to Mitchell and 8-0 to Richardson.
In doubles, Holt and Crain lost to Sam Edwards and Cole Spainhouer 8-2 and to Alex Day and Tristan Cato 8-3. Carlson and Langston lost 8-0 to Edwards and Spainhouer and to Day and Cato 8-0.
In girls singles, Merritt lost 8-0 to Maggie Playter and 8-0 to Madison Shelton. Emma Fraley lost to Shelton 8-1 and to Playter 8-0.
In doubles, Boozer and Harrison lost to Cameron Hafner and Clara Parker 81 and 8-5 to Macy McDaniel and Jillian Morrison. Semiche and McCall lost to McDaniel and Morrison 8-0 and to Hafner and Parker 8-0.
