AWM volleyball tops Forrest City
Tennis falls jsut short
WM School District The Academies of West Memphis volleyball and tennis teams saw plenty of action on the court in the last week.
The Lady Devil volleyball team began by defeating Forrest City at home in straight sets of 25-4, 25-11 and 25-5.
Senior Eva Pouncey enjoyed a productive night with 6 aces and 7 assists while fellow senior Rileigh Smith had 9 kills. Kassidy Pardy chipped in 7 kills and Cameran Aaron had 6 aces and 5 assists.
Last Thursday, the Lady Devils fell to Valley View in straight sets of 25-3, 2510 and 25-9.
Pouncey was the assist leader with 4 while Aaron had 7 assists, 1 ace and 1 kill. Pardy contributed 4 kills, Smith had 2 kills, 9 digs and 1 block, Anna Nelson had 1 kill and Shelby Nix had 6 kills, 1 dig and 1 block.
Finally, the Lady Devils lost in straight sets at home Monday to Paragould, 2511, 25-13 and 25-19.
The Blue Devil tennis team saw action at home against Mountain Home.
The boys lost 3 matches to 2.
In boys singles, AWM sophomore Carlson Bennage defeated Billy Beck 8-1 while Tanner Ramsey lost 8-1 to Jack Arp and 6-3 to Mica Justman.
In boys doubles, AWM's Kaiden Holt and Wallace Crain defeated Sam Arp and C.J. Blackmon 8-2.
AWM's Gavin Carlson and Brunson Langston lost to Dylan Kimbrel and Graham Davidson 8-6.
The Lady Devils, meanwhile, lost all five matches.
In singles, AWM's Olivia Harrison lost 8-0 to Emily Heide, Hannah Boozer fell to Meagan Beck 8-0 and 60 to Elizabeth Lewis.
In doubles, AWM's Lauren Semiche and Hannah McCall lost to Cara Conner and Maddy Lewis 8-0; Bailey Merritt and Emma Fraley lost 8-1 to Sydney Czanstkowski and Taylor Hasselwander.
