Campaign signs for GOP candidate go MIA

Somebody is stealing Donald Trump lawn signs in Crittenden County and the local Republican Committee wants it to stop.

Bobbi Dodge said she has had several Trump signs stolen and is not amused.

“Regardless of who you are for, that is private property they are stealing,” Dodge said.

So far, signs at WalMart, Avalon and ASU MidSouth have all disappeared.

“I have put them all over,” Dodge said. “And in two private yards they just disappeared.”

Dodge said it is a crime to steal political signs and anyone caught can and will be prosecuted.

A Google search reveals a spike in the theft of Donald Trump signs nationwide.

Trump signs have been vandalized, stolen, and even set on fire.

Just last month a Boston University engineering student videotaped herself stealing Trump signs and then bragging about it on Twitter.

The video shows her pulling her car over and absconding with the signs.

She displays the crumpled signs in the backseat of her car and then shows them in a garbage bin.

One Trump supporter in Bellingham, Washington got so fed up with people stealing his Trump sign that he electrified the sign to shock any would-be sign stealer.

Dodge said she is outraged by the sign thefts and is asking residents to be respectful of people’s First Amendment rights to support the candidate of their choice.

She urges homeowners who have had their signs stolen to report it to police and follow through with the investigation.

“Of course the problem is catching them,” Dodge said.

Crittenden County Democratic Party Chairman James Pulliaum said he had not heard of any Hillary Clinton signs being swiped. He said sign thief could be young mischief makers or just about anybody.

“We haven’t had any sign come up missing,” said Pulliaum. “You have to consider everybody though when you hear about missing signs. There are even Republicans not happy with Trump.”

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department specifies that political signs may not be placed in the public rightof- way adjacent to state highways. Small signs that violate this rule will be removed without notice.

However, the department will give the campaign the opportunity to remove larger signs.

Dodge said anyone who would like a Trump for President sign can call her at (870) 735-1104.

“If I am not there, they can leave their name and address and I will see that they get a sign,” Dodge said.
