Arkansas-based monster movie to sneak preview at Ohio Film Festival

The Legend of “ Boggy Creek Monster” comes to life on screen

Small Town Monsters An independent film company based in Northeast Ohio are preparing to host a special sneak preview of their third film, Boggy Creek Monster at a festival in Minerva, Ohio. The event will be held Sept. 23-24. While last years’ event acted as the official premiere for a film about an Ohio Bigfoot sighting from 1978, this one will see screenings of multiple films across a variety of unusual creature topics from Bigfoot to Loch Ness Monster.

The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event which will also play host to a speaking presentation from renowned museum curator, author and frequent television personality, Loren Coleman.

The event is being put on by Small Town Monsters, an Ohiobased production company who has released two films, Minerva Monster and Beast of Whitehall, with a third on the way. The third film is titled Boggy Creek Monster and will be a part of the event as the crew unveils the first footage seen by the general public on Saturday evening. Boggy Creek Monster has already made waves nationally, and will be seen on televisions in 2017.

Minerva Monster Day will kick off on Friday, Sept. 23, with a preview night that includes a short, amateur, monster film festival. Local residents and people who plan on attending the event are encouraged to make and submit their own short, monsterthemed, all ages appropriate films to be screened at the historic Roxy Theatre in downtown Minerva. There will be prizes for the winning films selected by a panel of judges.

The 2015 version of Minerva Monster Day was a blowout success with as many as fifteen hundred people attending, and four sellout screenings of Minerva Monster. Due to over-crowding last year, this years’ September 24th screenings and speaking presentations will be held in the high school gym. Bigfoot-themed vendors will be set up at the neighboring Minerva City Park where the annual Oktoberfest will also be taking place. Among the vendors are local Bigfoot research groups, and sellers of apparel and board games, as well as Small Town Monsters. Plan to spend the day, as there will be monster movies playing into the evening.
