Arkansas Highway Commission approves bid for improvements in Crittenden County
Massive paving project will expand Hwy. 64

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Crittenden County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
The purpose of this project is to widen 5.6 miles of U.S. Highway 64 to five lanes between County Road 375 and State Highway 147, near Crawfordsville toward Cross County Crisp Contractors, Inc. of West Memphis was awarded the contract at $23,303,705.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion of the extensive project, which is expected to be done in phases, is projected to be in early 2020.
This project is one part of a multiphase initiative of widening the fourlane corridor of Highway 64 between Wynne and Marion. When completed, the additional lanes will enhance the transportation connection between the cities, increase capacity, and improve traveler safety.
The project to widen Highway 64 from the Cross County Line to Highway 147 in Crittenden County has been separated into two phases.
County Road 375 to Highway 147 will be completed in Phase 1. The remainder of the project from the Cross County Line to County Road 375 remains a high priority for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and will be constructed in Phase 2 as funding becomes available.
