Celebrity Carnival ‘16 an ‘extraordinary’ success

Director ‘ overwhelmed’ at community suppory

DeltaARTS DeltaARTS celebrated another successful year of the Janine Earney Celebrity Carnival, which made its 30th broadcast Aug. 7, 8, and 9, from the RiverPAC Civic Auditorium.

Carnival, DeltaARTS' largest fundraiser, is a televised auction, which involves almost 200 local volunteers, and even more sponsors, donors and viewers, surpassed DeltaARTS' Carnival fundraising goal of $60,000.

“I was overwhelmed at the number of volunteers and sponsors who were in attendance to help,” DeltaARTS Executive Director Amelia Barton says.

“The spirit was extraordinary and really reflected the joy and importance of the arts to a community.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who made this a such a success — volunteers, sponsors, donors, and bidders. Because of you, so many children, families, and adults will have opportunities right here at home to experience the magic of the arts.”

DeltaARTS, the 2012 and 2015 recipient of the Governors' Award for Excellence in Arts Education, was established in 1972 as an arts agency serving Crittenden County. Today, through two nationally recognized arts education philosophies, Wolf Trap Institute Early Learning through the Arts and Lincoln Center Institute Aesthetic Education, DeltaARTS provides arts education and imaginative learning experiences for more than 15,000 students, teachers, families, and senior citizens in the Delta region.

DeltaARTS could not enhance the quality of life for the community and accomplish its mission of “transforming the Delta through imaginative arts education” without the help of its many supporters.
