Here’s what everyone is talking about this week:

Do we still have an e-recycle area (computers, printers, etc)? If so, where is it located?

[ Editor’s Note: The ewaste trailer only comes out every so often. It was here back in, I want to say May, so it’s probably due for a return. I’ll be on the lookout for a notice from East Arkansas Planning and Development]

*** I would like to inform the citizens of Earle that dont knw that LaToyia Cheers is not certified to teach. Im sick of all the favoritism that goes on in Earle. This is ridiculous. This is why our kids arent on level. I need those who are concerned like me to speak up. I also need the school board members to do their job while your out collecting signatures to run again. Everyone wants to come to Earle to have student loans forgiven and b/c we seem to let anybody in especially if your in good with Mr. Nicks. I say we need to worry about our children and their education and whats going on at the schools just as much as some worry about Carolyn Jones and making the city look bad. [ Editor’s Note: I love a hard- hitting exposé as much as the next guy, but you might want to consider all of the other possibilities before you jump to conspiracy. Is it possible that you are wrong? I mean, do you have firsthand knowledge of what you are claiming, or is this one of those “ what I heard was” kinds of deals? I mean, her MHPP training had to come with some sort of higher education, right? Perhaps she is seeking non- traditional licensure? Or perhaps the school has filed an ALP ( additional licensure plan) for her. That sort of thing happens all the time in schools much larger than Earle. I’m not sure why you’re down on Teach For America teachers. I happen to thinks it’s an excellent way for novice teachers to find employment as well as earning credit toward their student loans. I’m not saying you don’t raise any valid points, but trying to pin student achievement ( or being “ on level,” as you put it) on something or someone because you don’t agree with it without any data to back it up doesn’t really mean anything, and I’d be leery of trying to tie the school in with the city government. The two are independent of each other, and trust me, they need to stay that way]

*** Please help. I am 74 years old and try to work the daily SUDOKU puzzle. I have purchased a new pair of reading glasses, a magnifying glass and a fine point pen. These do not help that much, especially when trying to use them all at one time. Alarger and clearer print of the SUDOKU puzzle would be appreciated. It would make many of us senior citizens happier in our remaining days. Thank you. [ Editor’s Note: In all honesty, the Sudoku Puzzle is sort of secondary to the actual Classified Ads on the page. Most of the time, we try to run it in a ‘ 3column’ format, but when it comes down to either not running a paid ad or running the Sudoku in a ‘ 2- column’ format, the ads are going to win out every time. Having said that, I will mention it to the advertising crew. I know the Sudoku fans really enjoy the puzzle, so I don’t want anyone to get frustrated over something that should be fun]

*** I was reading the person’s text about his Evening Times, I feel his pain. On my way home from work I wonder if I need to stop and get a paper or take a chance it will be there and won’t be wet on days a shower might pop up. If the carrier worked only for tips, they would owe me money. You can only take the time to call and tell them to deduct the no show or wet paper just to make a point, but I don’t complain anymore because the last time I did the carrier smashed a Cricket inside my paper and rolled it up inside. I guess it was his way of retaliating.

[ Editor’s Note: I’m sorry you are having trouble getting your paper, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say Mr. Cricket just crawled up in your paper and got squished. I can’t be 100% certain on that, but, well, I’ve been mad before, but I’ve never been “ catch- a- cricket- and- roll- it-up in- a- newspaper” mad.

That seems like way too much effort. Now, a frog? That would send a message]
