I-55 bridge closure this weekend

Route expected to reopen Monday morning

Drivers planning to cross the I-55 bridge over the weekend of March 21 should prepare for a full shutdown as crews work to complete necessary repairs. Bell & Associates Construction LLC has announced that both northbound and southbound lanes of the current traffic phase will be closed as part of a weekendlong project focusing on expansion joint repairs, finger joint cleaning, and the addition of permanent road markings.

The closure is set to begin on Friday, March 21, at 8 p.m., with work continuing through the weekend. If all goes according to plan, the interstate will reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, March 24.
