Family: Missing man found dead in Crawfordsville
James Boeta’s remains believed found near crashed motorcyle along Highway 64
ralphhardin@gmail.com AWest Memphis man missing since December has been found, but not in the way that friends and family had been hoping.
The West Memphis Police Department first reported James Boeta, also known as “Jamie Pitts” missing nearly three months ago.
The 44-year-old Boeta was last seen on Dec. 12, 2021, and was likely traveling on a blue motorcycle. Three days ago, that motorcycle was found wrecked along Highway 64 in Crawfordsville, the last location his sell phone location pinged after his disappearance.
On Monday, a post was shared by famiily members on Facebook.
“Update on Jamie,” said the post. “Tonight his bike was found badly wrecked in a ditch off of HWY 64 in Crawfordsville… police searched for hours before it got dark. Nothing else has been found as of right now. Will let everyone know more as I get new information. Thank you all for the continuous thoughts and prayers.”
Sadly, the next day, those same family shared the bad news of an unfotrunate end to the case.
“First, I’d like to say thank you to the Sheriff’s Department and everyone else who helped us get the answers we need and deserve,” said Shelby Tinnon. “His remains were located. I went and did a cheek swab this morning to test DNA and have it legally confirmed. My heart is broken. I’m so glad to have closure, but still can’t get over how tragic this all is.
Thank you everyone for all the thoughts and prayers.
I’m so thankful I was able to spend the time I was able to with him. Please continue to pray for me and my brother, and everyone close to Jamie.”
The remains have been sent off for testing and an autopsy will be performed.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed the remains are Boeta’s and have not indicated whether or not foul play is suspected.
