Hate crimes and manufacturing outrage
Liberals must love hate crimes. Why else would they fabricate so many of them?
It could be that few events do more to both foster the liberal narrative and further the liberal political agenda than an old-fashioned skoal-chomping, meth-snorting, beercan- chucking hate crime committed by some racist, toothless wife-beater-clad redneck. And if there’s a Confederate flag flying somewhere, so much the better.
The Facebook crowd really gets into hate crimes, giving the Left something to chew on and rage about — even if they have to make it up.
Enter Jussie Smollett, a gay, black, liberal, Trump-hating actor… He claimed victim status checked all the right boxes — attacked by white, Trump-supporting, MAGAhat wearing, racial slur-shouting haters. These bad guys were supposedly a new version of the Klan-era lynchmob- type racists, just replace your white sheet with a red MAGA-hat.
Except… there were all sorts of holes in Smollett’s story, and is seems the actor paid two Nigerian brothers to stage the “hate crime” against him. It was, apparently staged to teach America a “lesson” in tolerance.
And everyone ate it up.
“What happened today to Jussie Smollett must never be tolerated in this country,” tweeted Joe Biden. “We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts.”
Rep. Maxine Waters — you know, the nutcase who wants to impeach the president for having the nerve to disagree with her socialist agenda? — blamed President Trump before asking, “Why all of a sudden do we have people unable to study while black, unable to mow a lawn while black, unable to have a picnic while black, and being attacked?”
Nancy Pelosi tweeted, “The racist, homophobic attack on [Smollett] is an affront to our humanity. No one should be attacked for who they are or whom they love.” Senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker called it an “attempted modern-day lynching,” and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez described it as a “racist and homophobic attack.”
Sure, some of that might be a legitimate concers — if any of Smollett’s story were true. Why would anyone lie about something like that? Well, why not? It actually happens quite often.
Like when Muslim college student Yasmin Seweid claimed she was harassed on a train by white Trump supporters who tried to rip off her hijab and called her a terrorist. Turns out, Seweid made it all up to get out of trouble with her parents…
Or when William Tucker, a black man, was charged with criminal mischief for vandalizing a vehicle with raicial slurs and “Trump rules.”…
Or that time a female Bowling Green State University student made up a story about three white Trump supporters shouting profanities and throwing rocks at her…
Or when a University of Louisiana student lied about two men – one in a Trump hat – attacking her, robbing her, and trying to take off her hijab… Or the “non-white” student who wrote “White Lives Matter” and another racial slur on a Missouri high school bathroom mirror…
Or… Just last month, when MAGA-hat wearing teenaged smirkers were going to goose-step their way back to some macabre combination of 1950’s America and The Handmaid’s Tale? Yeah, the reality behind all that didn’t quite align with the desired liberal narrative, so much so that even many on the political right were compelled to apologize for jumping to conclusions.
We could go on and on, of course. Such hate crime hoaxes could literally fill the pages of a pretty good sized book. It’s gotten to where when I read about a noose planted somewhere, or racist graffiti, or some nebulous “attack” by white Trump supporters, I automatically assume “hoax” instead of believing the story, and I guarantee I’m far from alone. It’s the sad but true reality of the world we’re living in.
What this sort of deceit does is create a “Boy Who Cried Wolf” scenario in which we are conditioned to be immediately skeptical of real victims of real crimes. And that is the real tragedy here.
