It is Saturday night and I still don’t have my Friday paper yet. What time can I expect it. 36 Lynn Cove. Please try to do a better job!!! [Editor’s Note: Sadly, I would imagine that you somehow got skipped during the Friday deliveries. I can’t apologize enough. Just to give you a little behind-thescenes info, we actually have Friday’s paper done and ready for the carriers to pick up on Thursday evening. In fact, some of them actually deliver them Thursday night. Others deliver first thing in the morning on Friday, some later in the day and, unfortunately in your case, not at all it would seem. We have some excellent carriers but we also have had some turnover and we’re trying to get everyone up to snuff. Sorry again for the missed paper]

*** Are tinted windshields illegal? Are taillight covers illegal? Are blue lights on the front of the vehicle illegal? I always thought they were, evidently they’re not because I see them just everyday. Maybe the drivers are just lucky, maybe law enforcement doesn’t worry about it. [Editor’s Note: The guidelines for just how dark tinted glass on an automobile can be vary from city to city and state. Tail light “blackout” covers are definitely illegal, but tinted covers are not. Blue lights are illegal to use in any capacity in which they might be mistaken for or used as police lights (as are red lights in most states). Hope this info helps]

*** I see your building is for sale, is evening times relocating?

[Editor’s Note: Ooh, a two-part question. For the first part, as an ongoing effort to cut costs and remain in business (times are hard for newspapers everywhere), we are exploring all options. One of those options could be to downsize our operation (again, the newspaper industry isn’t what it was over a decade ago when the building was built). While we are in a very nice building, it is way too big for our current business model. For the second part, if the first part comes to fruition, I imagine the answer to the second part would be in the affirmative, since I imagine the new occupants would probably frown on us hanging around. Since I’m on the subject, the implied part three to your question, are we going out of business? The best answer I can give you is no, we are here for the duration. But, it’s worth noting that we are a business and we do have to make money, and the only way that works is if people read the paper and advertizers put ads in the paper, so if you enjoy having a local newspaper, please continue to support us. I certainly believe there’s value in having a reliable news source in the community. And I’ll tell you why… the Memphis news only seems to want to come over here when someone has been killed or there’s some other bad news to report. And Facebook is cool, but you often have to wade through rumors and flat-out wrong information to get to the truth there. We’re not perfect and we’re not as fast as social media, but we do provide what I believe a valuable and needed service to the community]

*** Please relay to Michael that candidates for artistic jobs might not look like a good fit on paper, but given the opportunity and chance, might actually be a perfect fit. [Editor’s Note: With no frame of reference for this, I’ll just pass it along and leave it alone…]

*** Good morning. I just want to say, that I think it was an honor for Ms. Loretta Tacker to be chosen for that. And the employee’s are to be congratulated too. If it wasn’t for the people who work there, and Ms. Loretta’s family, there wouldn’t be a A SHAKE SHACK.) TASTEE FREEZE). They have great fish plates, fried bologna sandwiches, and THE BIG JOHN SPECIAL. Love the atmosphere when I go there. It is a family place to eat. And they are all friendly and nice. You can take the kids and no worry what you will see, or hear. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MS. LORETTA AND THE SHAKE SHACK. D. Holt.

[Editor’s Note: I’ve got to say, of all the things I would have thought would have stirred controversy and debate in Text the Times, Loretta Tacker’s nomination for the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame would have to be near the bottom]
