I went shopping at west
memphis walmart today, My 7 month old grand baby was with me. When I was ready to leave it was pouring rain and I could not go out so the door greeter name Judith watched my shopping cart until I ran to the car with the baby and pulled in front of the store, before I could get out of my car Judith pushed my cart out and loaded my bags in for me. just to let you know there are still caring people out there. Thanks again Judith. [Editor’s Note: As someone who had to make not one but four dashes to or from a vehicle in that mess Wednesday afternoon (with my work camera, no less), I can appreciate that effort. Well done, Judith!]
*** Thank you WMPD for going above and beyond (Kristin and officer Dylan Evans) for helping us over at the hospital downtown to help a patient who had a medical emergency and had to leave their puppy in their rig. You guys went the extra mile and we all appreciate you so much! So does little “Diva” the tea cup Chihuahua. The guys came and got the patients keys and rescued this little pup who had sat in the rig for over 9 hours [ Editor’s Note: Another job well done! Good work, WMPD! That’s something I often wonder about. We recently had a story about a man who died and his dog kept vigil at his home, as if he were waiting for his owner to return. We also had a story about a woman who recently passed away and the family made arrangements for her dog to be flown to Washington State with a bunch of other pets for adoption. I’m glad this little pup’s owner was only in the hospital, so hopefully they will be reunited when he makes a recovery]
*** Something is a little confusing in today’s Times, Wednesday, February 6, 2019. On page 2, there is a big 1/2 add for a Super Tax Day sponsored by Entergy & the United Way at West Memphis Library on Saturday, February 2, 2019???
[Editor’s Note: While I usually leave oversight of the ads to the Advertising Department, we should have totally caught that. The good news is that while Entergy and the United Way were, indeed, sponsoring a one-day “Super Tax Day” as a sort-of tie-in with the Super Bowl, which was this past Sunday, the tax program is actually an ongoing program that will be available at the West Memphis Library, 213 N. Avalon through April 13, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.]
*** just letting you know, at the time of the dog fight, I called 911 and Willow was lined up with several police officers, Ms. Mickie from Animal Shelter, and 2 EMTS on board the ambulance. A.C. caught the stray and let the boy’s dogs stay at home! I personally think they all should’ve been take but that’s fine, she did her job exceptionally well.!!!!!
[Editor’s Note: As someone who has had to break up a dog fight or two in my time, that’s no fun at all. Glad everything worked out and it sounds like no one (on four legs or two!) was injured. I know there’s only so much that can be done, but stray dogs are definitely something to be cautious of. I know when my wife was getting up in the wee hours to go running, she occasionally had an unpleasant encounter with a dog or two]
